LeadIT at COP29
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. LeadIT’s delegation will be on-site organising and contributing to events on industry transition topics.
About COP
COP29 formally opens on 11 November, with the World Leaders Climate Action Summit taking place on 12–13 November. Here, leaders will make national statements to demonstrate how their countries are advancing the Paris Agreement. Final COP29 negotiations will take place on 22 November. COP29 has three main priorities: to secure a new climate finance goal, to encourage and facilitate strong and ambitious nationally determined contributions (NDCs) from all countries to be submitted by February 2025; and to continue to encourage rapid, science-based transition plans away from fossil fuel production in a just and equitable way.

The Summit will be hosted by the Co-Chairs of LeadIT, the Governments of India and Sweden. This year’s Summit will provide an opportunity to present the progress of LeadIT 2.0, launched last year in Dubai, and showcase the actions taken by our member governments and industry leaders. LeadIT’s five years will be highlighted through the release of a Five-Year report, reviewing achievements since its inception at the UN Climate Action Week in 2019, accompanied by testimonials of positive impact from our members.
